Privacy Policy for SeePrice
Last updated: August 28, 2026
SeePrice (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the SeePrice mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and the choices available to you. By using SeePrice, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Summary
- SeePrice has no account or login, and we do not ask for your name, email, or other identifying information.
- Your camera is used only to read price tags and unit measurements you point it at. Text recognition happens entirely on your device; camera images are never uploaded, saved, or shared.
- The App uses third-party services — Google AdMob (advertising) and Google Firebase (exchange-rate data) — which may automatically collect certain device and usage information, described below.
- Exchange rates are retrieved from our rate service, with a public exchange-rate API as a fallback.
1. Information We Handle
Information you provide
SeePrice has no sign-up, login, or account system. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or payment information. No purchases are processed in the App.
Camera
The App uses your device camera so you can point it at a price tag or a measurement and see the conversion. All text recognition is performed on your device using Apple’s on-device Vision framework. Camera frames are processed in real time and are not stored, uploaded, or transmitted to us or any third party. The App does not save photos to your photo library and does not access your existing photos.
Information stored on your device
To work offline and remember your preferences, the App stores the following locally on your device only:
- Your selected currencies, units, and pinned conversion targets.
- The most recent exchange-rate data, so conversions work without a connection.
- Recent conversions you have made, and a timestamp indicating how long ads should stay hidden if you have used the “hide ads” feature.
This information remains on your device, is not sent to us, and is removed when you delete the App.
Information collected automatically by third-party services
When the App loads exchange rates or displays ads, the third-party services below may automatically receive certain technical information, such as:
- Device type, operating system version, and language/region settings.
- IP address, which may indicate an approximate (city-level) location.
- Advertising identifiers and ad-interaction data, for the advertising service.
- App and network diagnostic information.
See “Third-Party Services” below.
2. How Information Is Used
Information handled by the App and its service providers is used to:
- Recognize prices and unit measurements and convert them for you.
- Retrieve and display current and historical exchange rates.
- Provide offline functionality by caching your latest rates on your device.
- Display advertising and, where applicable, measure and improve ad performance.
- Maintain the security, stability, and functionality of the App.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Third-Party Services
SeePrice relies on the following third parties. Each has its own privacy policy governing how it processes data:
Google AdMob (advertising) — displays banner, native, and rewarded ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, IP address, and ad-interaction data, and may use this information to serve and measure ads.
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) — we use Firebase Cloud Firestore to deliver current and historical exchange-rate data to the App. Connecting to this service involves standard technical data such as IP address and a service-generated installation identifier.
- Firebase Privacy & Security: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com) — used as a fallback source for current exchange rates when our primary service is unavailable. Requests include standard technical information such as IP address.
- ExchangeRate-API terms: https://www.exchangerate-api.com/terms
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties and encourage you to review their policies.
4. Advertising and Your Choices
SeePrice is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. You can optionally watch a rewarded video ad to temporarily hide ads within the App.
Depending on your settings and region, ads may be personalized using an advertising identifier. On iOS, the App requests your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before using your advertising identifier to track you across apps and websites. You can:
- Choose “Ask App Not to Track” when prompted.
- Change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Limit ad personalization in Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
If you do not allow tracking, you will still see ads, but they may be less relevant to you.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Information may be shared only:
- With the third-party service providers listed above, to the extent necessary to provide their functions.
- If required by law, regulation, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
6. Data Retention
Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Data processed by third-party services is retained according to their respective retention policies.
7. Data Security
We rely on Apple’s platform protections and reputable service providers to help safeguard information. Camera processing occurs on-device, and network connections to our services use encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s Privacy
SeePrice is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing.
Because SeePrice does not collect information that identifies you directly, we may be unable to associate data with a specific individual. For requests relating to data handled by our third-party providers, please also refer to their policies. To exercise any rights you have, contact us using the details below.
10. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process information on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States. By using the App, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in such locations, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your own country.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
